We changed peoples’ perception of theater- we broke many of the conventions connected to performing arts and have produced astounding performances.
We take pride in introducing to the athenian audience, performing groups like Forced Entertainment, Rimini Protocol, Action Hero, Tim Crouch and Tania Εl Khoury.
Bios.Pireos84 was home to the remarkable theater group, Blitz team, created by Aggeliki Papoulia, Christos Passalis and Giorgos Valais for more than two years.
- Productions with no stage
The Blitz team together with Bios, created Cinemascope, a radical new suggestion in experiencing a performance. The audience would stand inside the Bios.Pireos84 building with headphones while the actors performed on the street right outside the window, creating a different kind of cinema screen.

We also presented Etiquette (2009), a performance in cooperation with the London based group Rotozaza. The audience would sit somewhere public- usualyy at a café. Wearing headphones, he would follow instructions by a voice. Noone watches, noone knows what you are doing.

- Productions in unexpected spaces
The group Bread and Puppet (2003) called for the audience to be part of the performance, whatever their nature or talents or abilities. The production that took place at Bios.Pireos84 in 2003 also used the pavement as an unconventional stage.

- Interactive productions
At Bios.Pireos84 we presented the first interactive theater for children. The performance entitled “Japanese Gardens, A Story on a magic carpet” (2005) (directed by Dimitris Seitanis) combined theatrical narration, music, dance, theatrical games and new technologies to tell a story about japanese gardens. Children could explore the “gardens”, that were compositions of digital images on a “magic carpet” that reacted in every touch. It was both a really interesting approach and a fun game at the same time.
