Every 6 years our mission and priorities are re-evaluated. We synthetically reconsider our past and present and reshape our aims and activities, with intent to stay relevant and reflect society’s cultural and social changes, while supporting our peer creative communities.
Our core values continue to resonate with our short and long term goals:
- Support and promote contemporary artistic production and its intersection with new media and technology.
- Introduce new methods for encountering art, culture, work, play.
- Inspire audiences and introduce innovative cultural/creative productions to the wider public
- Create a meeting point for local and international audiences and creative professionals.
MISSION
1. Engage Audiences
Through our risk-taking, immersive, inter-disciplinary events and actions we strive to continuously engage and inspire present and future audiences, while creating multiple access points to our physical and virtual platforms by establishing BIOS as a meeting point for work, education, art, wellbeing and sports.
2. Foster Inter and Post disciplinarity
We welcome any and all overlaps and interconnections between different artistic mediums, science, technology and new media. We actively follow and promote advancements in these fields and support any resulting creative collaborations. Our creative hub in our Romantso building offers the opportunity for professionals from different backgrounds to share ideas, work together and learn from each other, the only one of its kind in Athens.
3. Promote Creative and Cultural Inclusivity
We operate from a place of plurality, collectiveness, mutual growth, where all ideas, industries and professions are significant and compelling. We work across geographies, across mediums, mirror and serve our communities and fearlessly engage in the digital and global culture.
4. Support Creative Professionals
Envisioning the future of work, our Romantso building offers private and co-working office spaces for rent, allowing for an engaging work environment. We support our thriving human ecosystem by encouraging meaningful connections, providing mentoring sessions, studio open days, workshops, seminars, and communal spaces, where an exchange of information and the establishment of creative partnerships can be formed.
5. Maintain Dialogue with Europe
Our ECHN network promotes systemic reform and advocates for policy change in the cultural sectors. We offer toolkits and learning opportunities through workshops and seminars on how to implement best practices and achieve growth through collaboration and co-information. We have an active presence in European conferences where we advocate international synergies and mobility and promote endeavours such as the creative FLIP project.
6. Revive Athens’ Historical Centre
Our constellation of buildings consists of BIOS, ROMANTSO and LATRAAC, all located in the heart of the Athenian historical center, all inhabiting previously unused spaces. We accept that the Athenian landscape is rapidly changing and actively listen to and guide these changes in our community and our environment.
7. Inspire Well-Being
Our actions revolve around the human experience. We want to create memorable events for our audiences and visitors and nourish all senses through our activities. Our bars offer delicious cocktails and our patented PAPOTO, our kitchen hosts the most enticing pop-up restaurants, and our in-house menu launched in 2021. Our skate bowl in Latraac tends to the needs of the Athenian skater scene. And our crowd-pleaser club nights have been established as a meeting point for all curious party goers of Athens and beyond.
