Joost Heinsius, representing Creative FLIP, contributed to a high-level European discussion in Kraków on artists’ needs, fair practice, and fair pay, helping shape future EU cultural policy recommendations.
On December 4, Joost Heinsius discussed the “Needs and Challenges of Artists” in Kraków, Poland. This was one of five panels at the international Expert Forum “Culture and Creative Sectors’ Future in the Multiannual Financial Framework 2028–2034”, on invitation from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Poland has been the President of the EU in the first half of 2025 and wants to wrap its experiences into recommendations to the EU Commission (Culture Compass!), Parliament and other Member States (negotiations on the next Workplan for Culture start next year).

Joost introduced the European discussion on Fair Practice and Fair Pay including the contribution of Creative FLIP, followed by five hours of intense discussion with some 20 Polish and European experts, The panel was lead by Professor Dorota Ilczuk, who did extensive research on the working conditions in Poland. It was a pleasure to see the energy and eagerness of the Polish Ministry to influence future discussions on fair working conditions!
